The seasons and us: spring to bloom

Years are cycles of transformations in nature. With the seasons, the plants, the animals, the sky, and even the humidity of the ground changes, all together and in tune, like an orchestra with millions of instruments. Sometimes we forget that we are part of that orchestra: our body and our mind adapt to the different moods of the trees, the air, the weather, the moon and the sun. That is why it’s so important to be aware of the different seasons of the year, and what we can learn from them. This is the only way we can take advantage of everything that the earth gives us!

We are close to the end of spring and it is time to take advantage of the incredible opportunities that this season brings before it’s gone. How long has it been since you stopped for a moment to take a deep breath and just flourish? That is important every day, but especially in spring! And a great way to flourish is to prepare spring dishes that make us smile and recover our self-love, like a plant that is reborn. Wherever you are on your journey of wellness and beauty, both indoors and outdoors, you can use the love of spring inside your kitchen to inspire you and help regain your strength.

Spring foods are fresh, green, light, and packed with natural detoxifying properties. They will restore energy in your beauty and your body in the coming months. Here are some of our star ingredients this season, which have many healing properties:

  • Artichoke: Rich in fiber and vitamins

  • Arugula: Protects cells from DNA damage

  • Asparagus: A great antioxidant!

  • Coconut: Maintains a healthy electrolyte balance (which is especially useful after exercising)

  • Lemon: Strengthens blood vessels

  • Peas: Aids digestion

  • Spinach: Supports cell renewal and repair

  • Romaine Lettuce: Helps achieve smooth skin

  • Radish: Builds strong bone and connective tissue

  • strawberry: increases the production of collagen

There are many ways to prepare delicious dishes with these ingredients to help you renew yourself and feel better. Get creative!

Think of green spring vegetables as your edible beauty tonic. They help us recover our vitality and our glow,  and abandon everything toxic. This is the detox season, a natural function that the body performs every day, but can be made more efficient when we back it with beauty foods and healthy habits. It is also important to lessen our consumption of processed foods; one of the most effective ways to detoxify and feel beautiful during this season (and throughout the year).

Another way to take advantage of spring is by making the decision to start over and  reinvent yourself, leaving behind the things that don’t add value to our lives. It is time to celebrate the rebirth of beauty that resurfaces year after year in nature, and we are part of that beauty. It's time to let go of past grudges, messiness, old habits and treacherous food. Clean your cupboard of food that does not add to your beauty, health and peace. Let go of all of that and make room for new well-being!

It is a great time to clean your closet, throw away expired makeup and switch up your colors. Find new things that put a smile on your face. The goal is to keep in mind what this season is all about: growth, planning, personal development and inspiration that leads us to act and transform. It is a time to feel young and happy. It is time to be reborn.

TIPS

Here are some recommendations you can make in the spring:

1. Drink purifying and detoxifying drinks: it can be lemon water or a green juice.

2. Plant seeds: spring is perfect to connect with the earth.

3. Take care of your liver: this organ is in charge of purifying the blood, protect it with lemon water and alkaline vegetables, such as asparagus and spinach.

4. Simplify dinner: eat raw and natural foods to avoid eliminating their benefits and watch the cooking temperature so that the ingredients do not lose their properties.

5. Reduces toxins: reducing the consumption of processed foods is the best way to take care of our liver, detoxify ourselves and let our beauty flourish.
